The Advertising Campaign
What, When, and Where?
Your advertisements need to be planed. They need to get to the right people at the right time. We call that the advertising campaign.
If you are selling motorcycles you need to advertise the new models when they come out. If you advertise too soon your customers may choose not to look at your remaining inventory of this years bikes. They may choose to wait for the newer models. On the other hand it you don't want to wait too long. The timing, and content, of your ads need to match what you are trying to sell.
Your advertisements also need to get to the right people. If you run a local business in your home town why would you want to advertise on the other side of the country let alone half way around the world. You would want local advertising. But if you sell by mail order or you have a business with offices nationwide or even worldwide you need a different plan. You would want to spread your advertising everywhere you sell. We have some flexibility to put the advertisements right where you want them.
Making you ad do what you want it to do is called the campaign. You may have more than one campaign. Maybe you run one in the winter and another in the summer. You can even run two, or more, at the same time.
